  • MA considers transgender anti-discrimination legislation.

Transgender rights advocates pushed lawmakers on Wednesday to consider legislation that would add “gender identity, or expression” to the state’s anti-discrimination laws, resuming a contentious debate on Beacon Hill that has been simmering for years.

I have a soft spot for Massachusetts. I was born there, yes, but it seems like they really are ahead of the curve on social responsibilities. This is one of those things. No, people should not be able to be discriminated against in a job interview because they are transgendered.

Opponents are concerned about this taking away privacy. One of the examples was to have bathrooms more opened. Cause wouldn’t it be terrible if we had less “male” and “female” bathrooms? Surely society would collapse.

  • Every Child Dersves a Family

I was only recently (and by that I mean like 10 minutes ago) made aware of the “Every Child Deserves a Family Act”, which I have seen as both HR 3827 and HR1681. The purpose:

To prohibit discrimination in adoption or foster care placements based on the sexual orientation, gender identification, or marital status of any prospective adoptive or foster parent.

It seems like it’s about time for this, foster children deserve a home that can give them the love and support that they need, and there is no reason to discriminate against good parents who can give them these things.

PFLAG has an easy to fill out form, if you’d like to contact your representative to support this bill.

  • Bus Driver Refuses to Drive Women to Planned Parenthood

A bus driver wins his suit against a company that fired him for refusing to drive two women to Planned Parenthood. Lucky for these women who rely on public transportation, this man used his morals and beliefs to make sure these women didn’t do anything crazy, like get some birth control.

Can you imagine if every driver of a public transportation vehicle was allowed to determine where you get to go? “No, you can not go to CVS, you might be buying condoms” “No, I can not drop you off at this stop, you might go to that bar, and I know some alcholoics, so you know..” “No, I can drop you off at Saint Frances, I don’t like the pope”. I mean, for real. AND THE GUY WON $21,000.
