Have you seen the show on ABC called “What Would You Do”? They set people up in really interesting dilemmas, and watch the response of bystanders. I always find it fascinating. I’ve seen a woman abused in public, someone run out gas, pilots getting drunk at a bar before a ‘flight’, and all sorts of things.
Some of the responses are enraging, and there are usually one or two that give you a little hope for humanity. So when I saw this clip from a recent episode, in which they have a waitress say really nasty things to a gay couple with kids, I was really interested. And then they said they were in Texas. And then I was worried.
So the video leaves Texans not looking so bad actually. Supposedly, the people in Texas are actually more ready to stand up for whats right than the more liberal New York.
But what is really disturbing is the statistics in the video. In 29 states in the US gays can be refused service. That is embarrassing. Only 6 states ban discrimination against gays in adoption/foster care. How terrible.
What do you think?
